Fed up with the pressures and demands of her acting career, the famous Myra Marlowe leases a house in the tiny New England hamlet of Beaver Haven and settles down to write her autobiography. She is successful in turning aside the offers pressed on her by her long-time agent, but dealing with her nosy neighbors, as well as an offbeat local handyman, is a different matter. In an attempt to shoo them away and gain some privacy, Myra invents a desperate scheme.  Calling on her acting skills and powers of disguise she concocts a double identity in an attempt to scare off uninvited visitors, but she hasn’t reckoned with the determined and irrepressible charity of the locals.  Things go from bad to worse when Myra tries to back out of the whole thing and finds herself suspected of murder.  The uproarious doings of Beaver Haven will keep audiences laughing right up to the final curtain.
